Operating in so many diverse markets meant that Alibaba faced an increasing demand for translation and localization at scale. Previously, Alibaba’s translation needs were handled by multiple agencies, each responsible for different segments of the company's content. This fragmented system led to inefficiencies and challenges in maintaining consistency in quality and messaging across the various markets.

Alibaba also sought to unify its brand narrative across all content, ensuring that its voice remained cohesive across different languages and cultures. This included translating marketing materials, product manuals, packaging, and website content across 24 language combinations.

The Solution


Joined-up project management

We worked with Alibaba to create a tailored translation strategy that could efficiently handle the company's vast global content needs. To streamline the translation process and save time for Alibaba's employees, we integrated our Machine Translation tools directly into Alibaba’s content management system (CMS). This allowed content to be translated with just a click, and then automatically published without manual intervention.

Edisky’s advanced Neural Machine Translation (NMT) and API technology enabled Alibaba to quickly translate large volumes of content and incorporate it seamlessly into its workflows. While machine translation handled the bulk of the content, our team of native translation experts provided professional post-editing to ensure accuracy, quality, and consistency. Alibaba’s employees were able to track the entire process through our integrated dashboard, ensuring visibility and control over the workflow.
